On a wall near the port one can read the following epigraph: «Portofino remembers GUY DE MAUPASSANT who in September 1889 stopped some days in this port with his sailing boat «Bel Ami» finding peace for his restless spirit and inspiration to his genius.» Laid by the «Friends of Portofino» September 2nd 1953.
